Peat’s Thoughts: This cask strength monster is one of the best examples of power and balance. Uigeadail is Gaelic for “dark and mysterious”, but the only real mystery here is how they got this things to be so damn delicious. There are hints of sugar and fruit, but what takes center stage, like any good Islay malt, is the rush of smokey goodness. And it comes in abundance! It isn’t as medicinal or seaweedy (is that a word, if not, it should be) as say, Laphroaig, but by no means is it any less remarkable. Uigeadail is a thing of beauty. I highly recommend buying it, drinking it and even cooking with it.
Cheers.
This one is great, and will be a wonderful go-to after my bottle of Arbeg Dark Cove is finished.
