Peat’s Thoughts: I sort of have a fascination with this young distillery. For the first one to be established in over 124 years, Kilchoman, built in 2005, have had an amazing output of fantastic offerings while they wait for their aged statements to catch up to the older (but I dare not say “more established”) brands coming out of Islay. This one is particularly outstanding. Loch Gorm is full bodied and rich with a lovely sherry flavour behind all that delicious smoke. It’s a bit oily on the palate, but the sweetness oozes over your tongue leaving you with nothing but thoughts of joy and sunshine. And that finish? Man. I tasted it long after my glass was empty. I’ve enjoyed their other releases including their cask strength malts, but this one is truly a step above the rest.

Cheers.
