Peat’s Thoughts: The 15 year old expression from The Glenlivet is matured in French Limousin oak casks, which are typically a popular choice for the maturation of cognac This gives it a rather unique flavour profile. The nose is rich, full-bodied and oaky, and when it hit my tongue, I picked up on cinnamon and apple notes. I asked the opinion of a few others and apparently they get fudge and Madeira on the palate. My thoughts on that? They’re either lying to me or my palate isn’t as developed as theirs. Either way, this is a pretty solid offering from the renowned distillery. May not be my favourite from them, but it’s most certainly enjoyable.
Cheers.
