Peat’s Thoughts: They said this was aged at sea. I didn’t believe it. I smelled it andstill didn’t believe it. I sipped and yet still! I didn’t believe it. Don’t get me wrong, it tasted great, but ocean? Eh. Then the finish came. And with it the salt, vanilla and beautifully matured bourbon finally hit me. This is a splendid whiskey. From what I hear, the constant sea movement makes it mature faster. I finally believe it. Now I know some people find it to be overrated. Will I purchase a bottle? Probably won’t be my first choice, but I admittedly enjoy this a lot. But hey, Jefferson’s Reserve was an early love of mine as it served as my introduction to proper whiskey so maybe it is nostalgia? Who knows. Either way, I’m glad this didn’t disappoint.
