Peat’s Thoughts: You may or may not recall me saying that at one point I thought all Irish whiskey was good for was shots of Jameson. Well, I have been converted since then and can appreciate a good Irish malt. Needless to say, Jameson Caskmates is simultaneously a good malt to sip and enjoy as well as one to shot, but I would honestly rather sip and enjoy. So as for a bit of background, the folks at Jameson age their whiskey in their barrels, then after extracting that whiskey, ship the barrels over to Guinness who throw some of their stout in there, then when they’re done, ship it back to Jameson where they then finish the original whiskey in these newly flavoured barrels. The result is a beautifully stouty whiskey with some nice sweetness. I like.
Cheers.
Finn’s Thoughts: Definitely get a Guinness taste from this one. Has a creamy fully body chocolate taste along with the usual flavors Jameson The Original has. The taste definitely does linger in a good way at the finish as the cocoa remains on the tongue. This is a nice mix, and adds an appropriate dimension to The Original. Not bad at all, Definitely does not need a chaser… actually it should not be accompanied by a chaser. There’s enough going on here to enjoy. I could see myself getting this again.
Definitely a step up from the original.
A go-to blend in many a bar.

Completely agreed. This elevates Jameson to a drink worthy of a appreciation.
